With a payment of N100,000 apiece and a goal of giving widows a sustainable source of income, the Felix King Foundation has given many widows new hope.
Dr. Felix King, the foundation’s founder, stated that the money is intended to assist 1,000 widows this year when speaking at the COVID-19 Recovery Grant for African Widows in Lagos.
U.S. King stated that the Organization of World Leaders (OWL) was collaborating with him to carry out the program. He added: “Our aim for the year is 1000 beneficiaries. We currently have 12 beneficiaries, each of whom received N100,000 and three of whom also received sewing machines.
King cited an incident from years ago that prompted him to start the project: “I took my small kid to the hospital and I was to pay N6,000. It was a matter of life or death for my kid, but sadly I was unable to pay. When I got out of it, I thought to myself, “If my wife and I could go through it, what would happen to a lady who doesn’t have support?” I, therefore, made the decision that I must assist as many widows as I can. The journey started in this manner.
Since the initiative began, we have spent hundreds of millions of dollars. In my company, we set aside a specific portion of our earnings for the foundation.
Every month, people bring us a list of widows they want us to help, and this is the 20th batch we’ve dealt with. Felix King Foundation has provided all funding up to this point. However, in order to reach more people, we are collaborating with the Organization of World Leaders, USA, on the rehabilitation program.
“Our goal for the year was to reach 1000 individuals, but I’m hoping that with this cooperation, we’ll reach more,” he continued. We consider giving net as opposed to fish. Therefore, our beneficiaries must be those who are employed in some capacity, no matter how small. We help their business expand. We concentrate on widows who are responsible as well.
Dr. Dee Hawkins, who spoke on behalf of the OWL, stated: “This cooperation will endure forever. I visit Nigeria at least twice annually, and now that I have this, I may visit more. Because of Dr. King’s dedication to widows, we are collaborating with him. To lift the people, we must work together.
One of the recipients, Mrs. Dosumu Olayinka, a dry cleaner, said: “When I lost my husband, I believed the world had ended. In 2007, my husband passed away, leaving me to raise my children alone. I greatly appreciate what the Felix King Foundation is doing.
