500 women in the Ganye Local Government Area have received grants totaling N5 million from Hajiya Lami Fintiri, the governor of Adamawa State.
This was revealed by Solomon Kumangar, the director-general of media and publicity, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Yola.
He said that as part of an empowerment grant intended to encourage rural women’s self-sustainability, each beneficiary received N10,000.
He states that the recipients are expected to utilize the money wisely by starting small enterprises and other worthwhile endeavors, emphasizing that “we would expand the scope to cover additional sectors.”
He added that the governor’s wife’s Fresh Air Profile Empowerment Foundation was the organization behind the effort.
